During my second term of my second year at the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam I participated in the rooftop project, a proposal project for de Rotterdamse Daken Dagen 2023.
My design proposal arose from the concept of ‘framing and claiming public space upon the rooftop’. This arose after my realisation about the amount of people living around the rooftop, and how many (art)collectives and artists reside- and work in the area as well.
Creating a second purpose for the proposed stairs- continuing the design with harsh and geometric scaffolding structures, against vibrant and flowing board textile.
By creating frames with these materials, and enhancing the present areas of the build, I was able to realise an interactive and fitting temporary installation for this rooftop at Zuidplein, Rotterdam Zuid.
