MOMO PROJECT

In collaboration with Motel Mozaïque

During my second year of Spatial Design at the Willem de Kooning Academy (WdKA) I participated in a group project in collaboration with Motel Mozaïque (MOMO), to create a temporary sleeping installation for their yearly recurring festival.

My main role within this group project was the digital work (3D modelling, CAD design, rendering). The stills shown above and below are made solely by me, with final touches in photoshop added by someone from my team.

See below Digital renders (Rhino, Blender, TwinMotion)

We created a dynamic and harsh structure based wholly on tensegrity, which coincides with the cold and rural feel of the parking lot (which was our chosen upon location for this temporary installation). To contrast this rural harshness, we played and experimented with the softness, elegancy, and sheerness of fabric, by draping it over the tensegrity bamboo structure. All of the bamboo used for the structure was second hand, and not cut or damaged in any way, to keep our project as sustainable as possible.

With this installation we want to address the journey of finding a home. What does this feel like?
Creating not only a place to sleep (together), but moreover to embrace the comfort of feeling insecure, and the warmth within.
